President: Dolores Gauci, Malta,[email protected] or [email protected]

Dolores is a social worker by profession and the Chief Executive Officer of Richmond Foundation — the only NGO in Malta which operates in the field of mental health. She was the founder member and the first chairperson of the Maltese Association of Social Workers. Dolores has been the President of GAMIAN-Europe for the past two years and has been a board director for the past eight years.

 

 

Vice-President: Yoram Cohen, Israel, [email protected]

Was born in Jerusalem, Israel. Retired building constructor. Founder and chairman of Enosh branch in Holon. Chairman of Enosh, the Israeli Mental Health Association, since 2003. Chairman of SACH (Save a child’s Heart) since 2002. Vice-president of GAMIAN-Europe since 2006.

 

 

Immediate Past-President:Raluca Ileana Nica, Romania, [email protected]

Graduated as Master in Management and Public Administration (Academy of Economic Studies, Bucharest, Romania, 2006); Master of Business Administration (Case Western Reserve University, Cleveland, USA, and International  Management Centre, Budapest, Hungary, 2002). Since 1995 Raluca is the Executive Director of the Romanian league for mental health. Between 2000 and 2008 she was the coordinator of the several important projects, including  the “Employment – a guarantee of equal opportunities and quality of life for people with disabilities” and “Enhancing social cohesion through strengthening community mental health services in South-Eastern Europe”. In 2004 – 2006 Raluca was the President of GAMIAN-Europe. In 2007 she was elected as Board Director of the World Federation for Mental Health.

 

Secretary General: Guadalupe Morales Cano, Spain, [email protected]

Designer, webmaster. University professor in a field of “Writing, communication and information”. Active member for the creation of the first national organization for users of mental health. Founder of “Fundacion Mundo Bipolar”. Organizer of several congresses and symposiums.

 

 

Treasurer: Urve Randmaa, Estonia, [email protected]

Urve graduated from the Tartu University in 1976 (physics and chemistry) and from the University of Tallinn in 2001 (MA in social work). She has been involved in the state mental health policy working group as an expert in 2002. Since 1997 Urve has been working in EMHA, which became GAMIAN-Europe member in 2000. During the last two years serves as a Board Director of GAMIAN-Europe.

 

 

Petros Andronikos, Greece,  [email protected]

Petros was born in Athens, Greece; during 32 years worked as a researcher in the Electronic Nuclear Physics, Solar Energy and Archaeometry. The author of over the 100 scientific articles and books. Since 1993 he has been working in the field of mental health. The President of the Pan-Hellenic association of Families for Mental Health (SOPSI). Serves as GAMIAN-Europe Board director since 2002.

 

 

Marianna Bogdan, Chief Editor Newsletter, Russia, [email protected]

Psychiatrist with 35-years experience. Worked both at in-patient and out-patient clinics, in specialized institutions as well as in general practice. In 1994 worked on probation in USA (Protection and advocacy of mentally ill people). Was one of the founders of NGO “Public Initiatives on Psychiatry”. From 2000 till 2006 served as a Board Director of GAMIAN-Europe. From 2007 is a chief editor of the GAMIAN-Europe Newsletter.

 

 

Roger Gunnarsson, Sweden, [email protected]

Since 2003 Roger has been the active member of public movement in the field of mental health. During the last three years he was the chairman of local mental health association covering four regions in the north of Sweden. During the last few years he was a board member of S.A.D.A’s (Swedish Anxiety Disorder Association).

 

 

 

Hilkka Kärkkäinen, Finland, [email protected]

After finishing her B.A. in Social Sciences at the University of Tampere (Finland) in 1973 she worked for the City of Helsinki as a social worker in Children’s Foster Care. She attended Cleveland International Program for Youth Leaders and Social workers in USA (1975-76). In 1998-2002 Hilkka served as an Executive Director of Affinity (Finnish Central Association for Mental health). In 1999 she was the President of GAMIAN-Europe, and served as the board director between 2000 and 2006. In 2002-2004 she has also been serving in the Board of European Federation of Neurological Associations.

 

 

Pedro Manuel Ortiz de Montellano, Portugal,  [email protected]

Pedro was born in Lisbon, Portugal; graduated of the Institute of Agronomic of Lisbon in 1991and had post-graduated studies on management and valuation of real estate in 2004 and 2008. During many years he has been working as a commercial manager, general manager and commercial director. Since 2001 he has been working as a volunteer in ADEB (Association for the support of depressive and bipolar users) being the President of fiscal board and the treasurer. He also is GAMIAN-Europe Board director during the past two years.

 

 

Rebecca Müller, Belgium, [email protected]

Rebecca was born in ZÜrich, Belgian and Swiss nationality; she was graduated from the University of Ghent, as Master in Art history and Archaeology; finishing with distinction. Rebecca is very experienced in management, general secretarial duties, and translations. She knows six languages: German and Dutch as mother tongue level, as well as English, French, Italian, and Spanish. 

 

 

 

Monica Nemanyte, Lithuania, [email protected]

Monica has the speciality of French and English teacher. She has been working in the field of mental health since 2000. Since 2001 she is the the board member of Club13&Co, since 2006 she is also board director of GAMIAN-Europe. Having good understanding of psychiatric patients’ problems and needs, Monica would like to put all her efforts to make GAMIAN-Europe organisation, which  really represents patients’ voice.
